Dr. Patel is double board-certified in Sports Medicine and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, as well as fellowship trained in interventional pain management. He focuses his clinical practice on the use of exercise, nutrition, Osteopathic Manipulation, and natural therapies such as regenerative cell therapy for the treatment of orthopedic injuries and pain conditions. 

Dr. Patel earned his degrees across the nation at the George Washington University in Washington DC, Drexel University in Philadelphia, and Midwestern University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine in Chicago. He completed his residency at the prestigious Kessler Institute in New Jersey, fellowship with the Orthopedic and Spine Specialists hospital of Pennsylvania, and advanced regenerative medicine training with Regenexx and the Interventional Orthobiologics Foundation (IOF) – a non-profit for which he became a master instructor for other physicians and Chair of the Curriculum Committee.

Dr. Patel is an invited speaker and instructor for medical conferences and courses across the world. In addition to teaching physicians, Dr. Patel is an associate clinical professor for medical students at the Western University and Touro University Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Shounuck Patel is the illustrator of the internationally published medical atlas, Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Cross-Sectional Anatomy, which won the Association of American Publishers PROSE Award for best book in Clinical Medicine.

Dr. Patel has published articles in various peer-reviewed medical journals including the American Journal of Sports Medicine, Pain Practice, American Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, PMR Journal, and the Clinical Teacher Journal. 

In addition to illustrating his medical atlas, he has co-authored and illustrated chapters in several books including the world-renown Atlas of Image-Guided Spinal Procedures, Atlas of Interventional Orthopedics Procedures, Atlas of Ultrasound-guided Musculoskeletal Injections, Interventional Spine Procedures, Advanced Techniques in Musculoskeletal Medicine and Physiotherapy, and Therapeutic Programs for Musculoskeletal Disorders.

Get to Know Me

When he is not treating patients or teaching physicians, Dr. Patel loves to spend time with his amazing wife, adorable Maltese poodle mix, and two rambunctious toddlers. Although he has already started exposing them to art, music and sports, once his kids are just a little older, Dr. Patel is really looking forward to introducing them to his interests that include drawing, photography, snowboarding, and breakdancing.
